This contemporary, simplistic space flows seamlessly from the indoors out, to create a large, cohesive entertaining area
Wanting to transform the unused side garden of their stylish St.Ives home into an outdoor entertaining area, the homeowners provided a brief which was used to create for them a design both as practical as it is beautiful.
Integrating the pool area, covered entertaining area and garden space with the newly painted and renovated home maximised the relationship between the indoor living and dining area and the outdoor courtyard, offering the owners a more cohesive integration and a more efficient use of the limited space.
The kitchen and living areas now open onto entertaining area. Combining the two spaces, inside and out by utilising the same flooring materials, had the effect of doubling the available space for entertaining which together with a solid roof allowing for use in all weather conditions.
The black waterline tiles together with a midnight-coloured interior of the swimming pool creates a visual feature daytime and night with ambient lighting spilling outward from the home itself and internal pool lights.
The clear frameless glass pool fence further helps to visually integrate all areas.
A large entertaining nook that was developed inside the pool for a haven for the family’s young children and for adults to sit and chat in a heated section of the pool adds to the overall functionality of the space.
