A Total Concept Landscape Architects was commissioned to design the external entertaining areas of this Brisbane acreage property integrating a cabana, swimming pool and tennis.
The location of the tennis court was set on the level area of the property running east west, which in turn suggested the location of the cabana and swimming pool. Positioning the pool so to take advantage of the change in level from the court to the home enabled us to utilise the outside of the pool weir as the pool safety fence and provide a visual feature from the home.
The cabana is located between the swimming pool and the tennis court to act as a central entertainment hub. Surrounded by a large paved entertaining area with a wood fired pizza oven and barbecue for entertaining purposes, the cabana is set within lawn areas dotted with existing tall gum trees.
The style of the poolside cabana ensures that the overall project is in keeping with the home. The roof of the cabana has been designed with a hip that links to the roof of the residence and allows for very high ceilings and skylights that are great for airflow and to visually increase the size of the cabana. Similar brickwork of the residence has been matched and used extensively in cabana and external barbecue areas to further unify the spaces.
A large wall mounted LCD television, intricate built-in cabinetry incorporating glass splashbacks, Caesar-stone benchtop, under-mounted sink, stainless steel fridge, dishwasher and bar and a fully furnished bathroom facility with shower, WC and basin were designed to ensure a fully self-contained space. Beneath the cabana we incorporated a completely equipped gym with running and rowing machines, free weights and benches plus a second shower.
A quality internal, external and in-pool sound system together with all electrical components such as lights, irrigation plus swimming pool heater, lights and swim jets are all linked to the cabanas and residence’s switching system.
The sparkling blue water of the understated glass tile used in the geometrically shaped swimming pool contrasts beautifully with the cross-cut half-filled caramel paving of the external entertaining areas and cabana floor have been selected to be sympathetic with the dappled and shaded greens of the gardens and lawns.
Wherever viable, numerous large gum trees were retained to take centre stage and be showcased in the acreage property.
The result of the work designed by A Total Concept Landscape Architects is a beautifully integrated lifestyle and entertaining complex for the owners of this property.
